Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an Offering ID?
No. However, an assigned Offering ID allows the church to accurately record all your offerings and prepare a year-end contribution statement for tax purposes. Click here to request your Offering ID .
Why do I need both an Offering ID and a GivingFire account?
GivingFire is just one method of giving. You can also give by check or cash in-person or mail checks to Bethel Church. The Offering ID is what Bethel uses to track all your offerings, regardless of method used. Simply tie your Offering ID to your chosen method of giving.
Do I need a GivingFire account?
No. You can always give as a guest. However, as a registered GivingFire user, you avoid retyping payment and contact information each time you give. In addition, Text-to-Give by mobile phone is only available to registered users. Other benefits include viewing your online giving history and managing your account. Click here to create your GivingFire account.
Can my spouse and I share an Offering ID and GivingFire account?
Spouses can share one Offering ID Number. Simply enter your spouse's information in the Offering ID request. GivingFire does not support spousal information. Only one name, address, and Offering ID are allowed per GivingFire account. However, each account can store multiple email addresses and mobile phone numbers to accommodate spouse’s information, as long as they are unique across all accounts.
Can my spouse have her own GivingFire account?
Yes. However, if you share the same Offering ID, append a letter suffix to the Offering Number since GivingFire requires a unique Offering ID per account (e.g., the main Offering Number is 123, then the spouse can enter the same ID as 123b).
How do I use Text-to-Give?
In order to use Text-to-Give, you must create a GivingFire account and save your mobile phone number(s) and default payment method. If you don’t have an account, GivingFire can walk you through the steps to set up an account by texts. For more information, read this Text-to-Give guide.
Quick Tip: Create a new contact, “Bethel Giving” on your mobile phone for the Text-to-Give phone number: 410-762-4800.
Are there any fees with GivingFire?
Yes. Bethel pays 2% for all credit and debit card and 1% for all ACH (eCheck) transactions. If you wish to make an additional tax deductible giving for the fees, check the box, "I'd like to include the tax-deductible processing fee," when you give online.
